What jobs are available in Michigan for ex-cons?

Q: A friend of mine was twice convicted. The first conviction was for armed assault and the other was for drug dealing. He just got off parole a few weeks ago after being on it for a year. Since he was released last summer, he has been actively searching for a job, but his convictions (and lack of work experience) prevent him from getting anything. My friend is willing to do anything; he is not afraid of grunt work, but the unfortunate thing is that even fast food places do background checks and because of his type of felony, he has not been able to get anything. Any suggestions? I have been helping him with his resume, finding different job postings for him, talking to friends, etc., but nothing.
