Q: Been of work for 6 months waiting for operation on back..have been getting basic pay. Now on half pay through company insurance but been told I can now claim for incapacity benefit. How much..? not due back to work for another 4 months. On crutches, can't shop, staying with parents...what a nightmare just because I slipped over. Been given a ssp1 form to fill out for benefit...Any advise please..?
A: is this a workman's compensation case? If it is then all of this should be spelled out for you. If this is not then you are going to have to check the policy under which this incapacity claim will be made. They can go up to around 3/4 of your pay. Check with the benefits office of the insurance company that carries the policy.
