Q: I applied for 2 positions around the same time. Both jobs said they liked my resume and are forwarding it to the hiring manager. Its been 10 days and I have heard anything..is this normal. Should I follow up on the applications or not? Also who would I talk to?
A: It can vary from 1 day to weeks or even months. There may be many jobs they are trying to find candidates for and interview. You can call to follow up with the person you gave your application to. Always get the names and contact information for anyone you talk to in HR. I would call them and tell them you are still very interested in the position and would like to find out the next step in their process. Do not call them or e-mail them every day or you will be labeled a pest. This is a very tough job market right now and there are many more applicants that jobs available. Keep looking and network to find people who know someone who can hire you.
