Q: I've been trying for a job in my career field, and I was finally offered one (which is rare). They want me to start a week and a day from now, even though I asked for two weeks. I've been with my current company for almost two years and I would hate to lose the reference, should I ask for a 1 week notice instead?
A: Let them know ASAP. Its been 2 years, they should be understanding. And obviously it sounds like a great offer so take the chance and take it! Even if you lose one reference, you'll have a new job and hopefully a new/better reference.
